Dave and Florence Chianese were looking for five different things for their ideal retirement location, but they got much more than they bargained for when they purchased a home in Brunswick Forest—including getting to be next-door neighbors with their longtime friends, Pat and Cyril Chaco.
BRUNSWICK FOREST FITS THE BILL
Dave and Florence had very specific criteria for their retirement home: they wanted to live within 30 minutes of an international airport, they wanted to be close to cultural venues, they wanted a home with natural gas for cooking, they wanted to live in a community with an indoor pool so they could swim all year long and they wanted to live in a diverse community, that was open to everyone—not just people age 55 and over. “Brunswick Forest met all of our needs,” says Florence. “We also like that we live less than a mile from the Fitness and Wellness Center, there’s shopping close by and doctors’ offices are located right in the community.”
FROM FRIENDS TO NEIGHBORS
When Dave and Florence decided to come to visit Brunswick Forest as part of the community’s coastal discovery package, they brought with them longtime friends, Pat and Cyril Chaco who were, at the time, living in a condo in Vermont, where they had originally planned to retire. The Chianeses showed the couple around the Wilmington area, making sure to show them the lovely beaches and downtown Wilmington. The following day, during a tour with Brunswick Forest agent, Michael Braddock, Pat confessed to Florence that they planned to buy in the community. The couples discussed it, and decided they would each purchase a townhome in Park Landing and own one side each of a Palmetto II duplex.
WORLD TRAVELERS WITH AN ACTIVE LIFESTYLE
Both the Chianeses and the Chacos enjoy an active lifestyle in Brunswick Forest and love playing golf at Cape Fear National. “It’s very well laid out,” says Florence. “The fairways and greens are in impeccable condition.” Both couples love to travel and have visited places all over the world. They have a special love for New York City where Pat and Florence like to see operas while the men take in a Broadway show.
