SOUTHPORT 4TH OF JULY FESTIVAL
The City of Southport has celebrated July 4th in a big way for more than 200 years, and this year will be no exception! In colonial times, Southport marked the holiday with cannon fire from local ships in the harbor but, this year, residents and visitors can enjoy a spectacular fireworks display, fair food, more than 100 arts and craft vendors, a naturalization ceremony, veteran’s recognition, a Freedom Run and Walk, games, live music, a car show and much more. Festival attendees should not miss the city’s famous Fourth of July Parade which kicks off at 11 am at the corner of Atlantic and Moore Streets. For more details on all of the holiday events, visit the North Carolina 4th of July Festival at Southport website.

The fireworks display will begin at 9:05 pm and will be set off from a barge on the Cape Fear River for a fantastic show overlooking the water!
Head to Kenan Auditorium at UNCW for the Wilmington Symphony Orchestra’s special holiday performance of patriotic classics like “The Battle Cry of Freedom” Tchaikovsky’s “1912 Overture” as well as selections from the Civil War era in honor of Independence Day.
