With a network of more than 100 miles of paved and unpaved walking and biking trails, Brunswick Forest is the perfect location for area runs, races, triathlons and other active-based events. Hosting several runs throughout the year, our community’s pathways are picturesque, flat and versatile for participants.

Our 4,500-acre reserve has hosted an increasing number of events over the past few years and those looking for more active-based things to do around town will be in no short supply of options as we look ahead.

Most recently on our calendar was the Hound Hustle 10k, 5k & 1-mile Trot with Spot. Taking place this past Sunday, April 15th, Brunswick Forest Veterinary Hospital hosted this pet-friendly race that took place throughout the community. The run featured a competitive 10k, as well as a 5k and 1-mile Trot with Spot.

This year’s race beneficiary was Paws Place. This non-profit, no-kill shelter is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and adoption of dogs in Wilmington and surrounding areas in Southeastern NC.

Sponsoring the Hound Hustle, Brunswick Forest Veterinary Hospital is a state of the art AAHA accredited and certified Cat Friendly Practice that has been open and serving the greater Leland area since February of 2011.

The Novant Health Oceanside Family Medicine Oktoberfest 15k and The Joyce Irish Pub 5k race is scheduled for Sunday, September 23rd. This race will wind through Brunswick Forest’s paved trails, through Meadow Park, across wooden bridges and over a 1/3 mile elevated boardwalk through a nature area.

The post race party will be on Hammock Lake and will feature snacks, exhibitors, prize drawings for gifts from sponsors and free race entries to 5 Star Race Productions events.

Sponsoring the event, Novant Health Oceanside Family Medicine offers a wide range of health services and can be found in The Villages of Brunswick Forest. Also sponsoring the run, The Joyce Irish Pub is located in The Villages as well and is home to an eclectic mix of menu items and clientele. Residents to Brunswick Forest and locals in the community come to enjoy a great selection of beers and delicious homemade dishes!

The Wilmington Symphony Orchestra’s Beethoven 15K & 5K took place on January 28th in Brunswick Forest. Starting and ending at the Fitness & Wellness Center, this race features flat and fast-paced running trails, sidewalks and streets throughout the neighborhood.

The Fitness & Wellness Center hosted the post race party and awards ceremony that included snacks, adult beverages, prize drawings and the famous Beethoven costume contest.

Stay tuned for next year’s race date for the Beethoven run!
