Introducing the Brunswick Forest Pickleball Club

April 19, 2018

In honor of April being National Pickleball month, we’re taking a look at the most popular club in our community – The Brunswick Forest Pickleball Club.

One of the fastest growing games in the country, Pickleball has quickly gained traction with residents and is now one of the most popular activities offered in Brunswick Forest. This friendly sport is a mix between tennis, badminton and Ping-Pong and is played with a small paddle and Wiffle ball. If you’re one of the few that haven’t already heard about the new craze, it’s time to dive into the world of PICKLEBALL!

Reserved for Brunswick Forest residents, the community currently has two sets of pickleball courts to choose from. The Fitness & Wellness Center offers four courts located near the tennis courts and are available for drop-in play and reservations via the Fitness Center. Cape Fear National also offers six courts available to residents.

Creating what is now the largest Pickleball club in North Carolina, the BFPC has grown into a community powerhouse over the past few years. With over 450 members, the club has two primary objectives: to play pickleball and socialize with fellow pickler’s. Members can most often be found out playing, starting at 7am most mornings, but they are proud to be a social organization as well. The club holds social events during the year for members, including breakfasts, pizza parties, barbecues and an annual holiday party in December. Whether you’ve been playing for years, or you’re just looking to get started in a new hobby; the BFPC has what you’re looking for.

So, how do you get involved? The BF Pickleball Paddles currently offers introductory classes for beginners, as well as pickleball paddles and equipment to help get you started. Once you’ve taken those classes, you’re able to choose from a wide variety of programs offered by the club. Offering instructional and social drop-in classes, scheduled play times throughout the week and a competitive play option known as “SkatterDay Saturday,” the BFPC has a plethora of options for all levels. Looking for even more competition? League and tournament play is available in the Spring, Summer and Fall.

LOOKING AHEAD

Exciting things are on the horizon for Pickleball players in the local community. After pushing for an indoor Pickleball facility for the last two years, the House of Pickleball (HOP) is finally becoming a reality. While HOP is a separate entity from the BFPC, the indoor facility will provide more opportunity to play the game of pickleball and will attract more players to the area.

Set back in the Villages of Brunswick Forest, the HOP will be a “world-class” indoor Pickleball facility. There will be 6 indoor, multi-colored pickleball courts and the floor will have many layers of a sport rubber coating to provide a comfortable and cushioned play experience. The courts are climate controlled and features sufficient space, controlled netting and much more!

With the building process underway, the new facility is now offering memberships! For more information on the facility and memberships, sign up for an upcoming presentation at the Community Commons in Brunswick Forest.
