It’s the season of thankfulness! And something we can assure you our residents are thankful for at Brunswick Forest is the wealth of local happenings always going on in either Leland, Belville, Southport, or Wilmington!

Variety is the spice of life as they say, and the greater Wilmington locale is not short of fun to be had. From catching a live show to spending some time at a local car exhibit, there’s an adventure usually waiting just around the corner from your front door. Let’s look at some of the fun events that are happening in our neck of the woods for November:

British Car Show at The Villages Town Center

Calling all gearheads and petrolheads! If you’ve always loved the design, engineering, and simple aesthetic of British sports cars, then this is the show for you. Even better if you’re a resident living in Brunswick Forest because the show will be taking place right in The Villages Town Center. Drivers from all over will be presenting their classic and modern British automobiles, hoping to win best in show and impress the crowds with their showing. There will be raffle prizes during the event and even a live musical performance from the “Rusty Bumpers.” The British Car Show will be taking place November 6th from 9 am – 3 pm and FREE for visitors of all ages. Those looking to enter a vehicle of their own in the show will need to submit an entry fee of $10. All the proceeds from the raffle will go to benefit local charities! If you love cars, be sure to come on out to see what all the fuss is about.

Cape Fear Fair and Expo

It’s the fair, and all your friends are there! When November rolls around, you’ll probably notice the iconic smell of hay, candy apples, and funnel cakes wafting in the air around Wilmington International Airport. And the source of all this old town magic is the Cape Fear Fair and Expo. A local tradition for many years now, it’s one of the only spots in town you can go and see livestock while experiencing carnival rides at the same time. The fair serves local farmers and neighbors who are looking for tools or livestock, allows local crafters to show off their goods, and provides entertainment for all ages. There will be activities for kids, food, horticultural contests, stunts, contests, and magic shows. Simply put, the fair is just good old-fashioned fun, and a crowd pleaser every time it’s in town for the fall. Admission is $22 ($5 for walk-around tickets) and runs 5 pm – 11 pm during the week. (1 pm – 11 pm on Sundays).

Frankie’s Outdoor Market

Taking place in the grass lot at 1019 Princess Street, Frankie’s Outdoor Market will be a great way to shop outdoors in the crisp air. If you need a few things for the pantry or to put on display in your home, you can’t go wrong with a farmer’s market. Here you’ll have a wide variety of goods to choose from. You’ll find fresh fruits, vegetables, seafood, meat, jewelry, baked goods, and bath products at this market. And best of all, you can have confidence that you’re putting money back into the local economy to support the community! You can visit Frankie’s Outdoor Market on Saturday, November 6th, from 9 am – 1 pm, and is free to attend.

Jimmy Buffet’s Escape to Margaritaville

It might be in the middle of the Autumn season, but that doesn’t mean the spirit of the tropics doesn’t permeate the area year-round! And this concert will solidify that feeling for you if you’re a fan of Jimmy Buffet’s music. Taking place at the Wilson Center in downtown Wilmington and performed by Cape Fear Stage, this is a musical comedy that brings all the Jimmy Buffet classics to life; This includes Volcano, Fins, and Cheeseburger in Paradise. Be sure to see the performance even USA Today calls a “Little slice of paradise.” This spectacle will be taking place from November 2 – 3rd at 7:30 pm. Admission starts at $25.

Cape Fear Kite Festival

Let’s go fly a kite! Now back and better than ever, the 15th annual Cape Fear Kite Festival will be taking place from November 6th – 7th down at the recreation area in Fort Fisher. Kite flying is a lot of fun for everyone involved, whether you’re the one piloting the kite or just a spectator. This event will be taking place both days from 10am – 4pm and presented by the Pleasure Island Chamber of Commerce. You will find a variety of impressive kites of all shapes and sizes, as well as live music and food trucks. This is one event you want to make sure you catch this November.

Regardless of what time of year it is, our local area knows several good ways to enjoy a great time. So, why not give some of these upcoming events a try, you’ll be glad you did!
