In a community rich with diverse amenities, water is unquestionably a unifying element for Brunswick Forest. There are beaches, creeks and rivers that border the property, ponds that punctuate the neighborhoods, and a picturesque community lake that is a prime location for homes and amenities.

Into that last spectacular setting, Brunswick Forest is pleased to release an exciting new neighborhood, The Hammocks at Shelmore, and its accompanying lakeside pool.

The Hammocks at Shelmore
Ninety-five casually sophisticated homes of coastal, low country design will eventually complete the neighborhood where seven homes are currently under construction. Twelve of the properties will be lakefront, and those located across the main street will have water views.

Five of Brunswick Forest’s featured builders are constructing homes in the The Hammocks at Shelmore, and soon homebuyers will be able to walk through the various models, making a side-by-side comparison of each builder’s features and style. Participating builders include: Bill Clark Homes, Fogleman Associates, Kent Homes, Logan Homes and Plantation Building Corp. Expected to be completed in time for the Parade of Homes in April, the models will be approximately 2200-3000 square feet, with prices in the upper $300s to upper $400s.

“The aesthetic is unique at The Hammocks at Shelmore,” said Jerry Helms, Director of Sales for Brunswick Forest. “Details will include metal roofs, cedar shakes, board and batten, and white trim. Living on Hammock Lake should feel like you could be on an estate in Nantucket, or a salt marsh in the Carolina low country.”

Buyers at The Hammocks at Shelmore have several options. They can purchase a completed home, or they can purchase a site and either choose from the builders’ portfolios of coastal designs, or build a custom home.

Helms also pointed out that lawn maintenance is included.

The Hammocks at Shelmore can be found adjacent to the first Shelmore phase which includes neo-traditional cottages, with gracious front porch living and alley-loaded garages. “The two Shelmore phases really complement each other well,” said Helms.

A Refreshing New Amenity:

A Lakeside Pool

Brunswick Forest developers have also broken ground on a new pool that will be located beside Hammock Lake, providing water views from the deck. The handsomely landscaped amenity will include a family-friendly splash pad, trellised gazebos and pergolas, plenty of shade, a play area for bocce ball, and a large number of bicycle racks.

“The new amenity is being built to give residents of Brunswick Forest additional access to a pool,” said Helms.

In Hammock Lake Park

Hammock Lake is a park-like setting, rimmed by walking and cycling trails that connect to all of Brunswick Forest. Benches are positioned at intervals along the walking path, and a white sand beach creates yet another mini resort setting within the community.

“When people come to visit Brunswick Forest, they often comment that they feel as if they’re at a resort,” said Helms. It must be that feeling, in part, that has motivated more than 250 families to purchase a home in Brunswick Forest so far this year, and 1,122 families in total as of October 2013.Helms commented that every year since 2009 has seen record-setting sales, and the community is definitely visible on the national radar for offering a great lifestyle at affordable prices. “Nationally, people are considering Wilmington a more desirable location than Florida because it’s a day’s drive to Northeast,” said Helms. “Once they start looking at Wilmington, they find Brunswick Forest and are amazed at all it offers at such a tremendous value.”

Helms points out that Wilmington residents have been interested in Brunswick Forest for years, and they too are moving just across the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge from amenity-rich neighborhoods in New Hanover County. “They are finding lower taxes, fees and dues, easy accessibility to all Wilmington has to offer, and much better value for their money,” Helms concluded. “Our residents get to enjoy luxury amenities without the overhead of joining a country club.” To that end, Brunswick Forest’s Cape Fear National® is open to the public and residents have the option of purchasing annual memberships to the acclaimed golf course located in their own backyards.

“It’s usually not a matter of whether people will like what they find here,” summarized Helms. “It’s a matter of whether the property will have sold before they get here.”
