Light, airy, and affordable, the Meadow Park Cottages at Brunswick Forest have already attracted considerable interest.

Three brand new furnished models open to the public starting this weekend, marking the grand opening launch of a new home design and a new neighborhood at Brunswick Forest.

The Coastal Cottages at Meadow Park were created following repeated requests from interested buyers seeking a high quality, low maintenance single-family home at an affordable price point.

Charm is an essential element of the homes. Designed with deep roots in the coastal south, the elevated homes feature a distinctive coastal cottage architectural style combined with contemporary amenities and conveniences. A cozy front porch, plank siding, metal roofs and other elements evoke southern coastal cottage elements from an earlier part of the 20th century.

According to Brunswick Forest developers the homes are expected to attract a variety of buyers. One category includes the active pre-retiree/retiree looking to downsize from their current home. There’s also a strong second home market, which is especially attractive if those buyers are seeking rental income. Some of The Cottages will be used to house prospective purchasers visiting Brunswick Forest on the community’s three day/two night Coastal Discovery Packages.

Developers also say there is a market for existing home site owners who aren’t yet ready to build and for young, Wilmington-area professionals attracted by the price, the community and its location just ten minutes from historic downtown Wilmington.

Set in the Meadow Park section of Brunswick Forest close to the Fitness and Wellness Center and The Villages medical, professional and retail center, a limited number of homes are being offered.

Prices begin at $249,900.

The launch of the new cottage homes comes as the 4,500 acre Brunswick Forest development enters the closing months of what is shaping up to be a record sales year during an otherwise down real estate marketplace.

Home and home site sales through the first nine months of 2011 number 128, eclipsing the 110 unit sales mark set in sents the fastest sales pace since doors opened not quite five years ago in the community.

Homes and home sites have sold through September 2011. Brunswick Forest Realty officials say at that pace the community is on track to sell more than 165 homes and home sites totaling more than $40 million for the 2011 year.

“In the end it comes down to lifestyle and value,” said Jerry Helms, Brunswick Forest Director of Sales and Marketing. “We’ve learned to listen to our customers, and then give them what they ask for. That means home designs they want, completed community amenities and a lifestyle and location that is simply unparalleled. It’s obviously a formula that works.”

Nearly 800 families have purchased at Brunswick Forest, which Helms says makes it the fastest growing community in the coastal south.

Residents choose from a wide range of prices and lifestyle options, from low maintenance luxury town homes to home sites and spacious custom homes. Secluded neighborhoods, each with its own distinctive character, are found throughout the community.

Residents also enjoy a wide variety of amenities in place today, including an 18 hole championship golf course at Cape Fear National®, an 18,000 square foot Fitness and Wellness Center, a Community Commons, a River Club, parks and natural areas and more than 100 miles of paths and trails. New Hanover Regional Medical Center has opened a 40,000 square foot medical office building at The Villages at Brunswick Forest, a major retail, professional and entertainment center at the community’s entrance.

In addition, construction has begun on Lowes Foods and CVS/pharmacy stores in The Villages at Brunswick Forest, two anchor tenants representing approximately 55,000 sq. ft. of additional retail offerings at the Wilmington community town center. Developers are anticipating the opening of both stores sometime around the middle of 2012.
