2013 Another Exciting Chapter In The Success Story That Is Brunswick Forest

It was the second weekend of November, typically the beginning of a slow period in real estate. “But here were 50 couples signed up to tour Brunswick Forest,” said Jerry Helms, the community’s Director of Sales. The weekend’s visitors were treated to an oyster roast that coincided with the release of some of the community’s premier home sites on Cape Fear National golf course.
“Unlike national trends, we see strong sales all year, including in November and December,” said Helms.
Unlike national trends… that’s a phrase that gets used quite a bit when the subject is Brunswick Forest. Theirs is a sales success story that keeps adding chapters, with no ending in sight.
Helms said the numbers are impressive, but he is adamant about looking at them in people terms. “It’s not about the numbers,” he said, “it’s about the people and the community they represent.”
Since breaking ground in 2007, Brunswick Forest has welcomed nearly 1,200 families, including more than 300 this year. “The developer and our builders have the financial resources and the confidence to keep this community thriving,” said Helms. “Currently there are more than 100 homes under construction, and the expectation for 2014 is to welcome 300 more families.”
Helms added that more than 2,500 people took pre-scheduled real estate tours of Brunswick Forest as of the end of October, not counting those who simply came without calling ahead. All together, he said, the community hosted at least 5,000 visitors in the first 10 months of 2013.
A Local Jewel; A National Presence
Brunswick Forest has not only been gaining fans and residents since its inception, it has been garnering more than its share of national awards and enviable rankings—including recent accolades from Where To Retire and GolfWeek magazines.
In the July/August 2013 issue of Where To Retire, Brunswick Forest was named in the magazine’s annual feature, “The Short List: 50 Best Master-Planned Communities in the U.S.” In a letter congratulating Brunswick Forest for this distinction, the editor wrote, “During a nine-month selection process, our editors reviewed several hundred candidates across the country. Your community is among an elite group of developments that offers today’s retirees a well-rounded, active life.”
“Today’s retirees tend to have anything but retiring personalities,” commented Helms. “Many have active lifestyles and youthful spirits, and they prize being healthy, involved and engaged. But the resort-like atmosphere of Brunswick Forest appeals to most people, regardless of the phase of their life. Young parents love raising their children in a neighborhood where they can walk or ride a bicycle to the swimming pool, tennis courts or golf course.”
Additionally, GolfWeek named Cape Fear National a must-play course in North Carolina for 2013, and in 2014, the publication will announce that Cape Fear National made its Best Residential List.
Being A Good Neighbor To The Region
The Where To Retire article said the publication “applauds the positive impact that each of our 50 Best is making on the economic health of the towns and cities in which they are located. All of the communities are leaders in providing a high quality of life to those who are embarking on new adventures in retirement.”
Helms said Brunswick Forest absolutely meets that criteria. “It’s been gratifying to see the community positively impact the entire area,” he said. “The residential and commercial centers are enjoyed by more than just those who live in Brunswick Forest. We host festivals, concerts and many other recreational events, and our thriving businesses in The Villages at Brunswick Forest give all Leland residents convenient outlets for shopping and dining, as well as excellent professional and medical services.”
Helms also pointed out that, while most of southeastern North Carolina is made up of a series of subdivisions, Brunswick Forest is one of a handful of true master-planned communities. “All aspects of the community promote excellent quality of life,” he said. “From many styles, sizes and types of homes to a wide range of resort-like amenities to interconnectivity that promotes walking, biking and socializing among neighbors—all are designed for maximum enjoyment and convenience.”
“I would call it the secret of our success,” said Helms.
