3 Things to Do in the Cape Fear Area This August

Looking to indulge in your favorite hobby or find a new one to fall in love with? If so, gear up for a month of enriching experiences and make the most out of your time here in Coastal Carolina. August has a vibrant calendar of events that will spark your passions. Additionally, they provide a perfect opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals.  

Here are some thrilling events taking place this August in the Greater Cape Fear area.  

Leland Cultural Arts Center Open House

When: August 5th 10am to 1pm 

Where: 1212 Magnolia Village Way  

The Leland Cultural Arts Center will be hosting its open house on August 5th. This is your opportunity to learn about the various programs and events the center offers throughout the year. There will be live demonstrations and a chance to meet with the instructors.  

Live demonstrations you can find at the open house include pottery, gardening, stained glass making, fitness activities, and more. You can usually find the center hosting all kinds of events and classes for all ages. Some of these include movie nights, dance lessons, and yoga just to name a few. It’s the perfect place to gather with your community and find a new hobby to explore.  

Leland Under the Light Car Show

When: August 19th 3pm – 8pm  

Where: Lowes Food Parking Lot in The Villages at Brunswick Forest  

If you’re a car enthusiast, you’ll want to plan to attend the Leland Under the Lights Car Show! Last year’s show brought in nearly 200 beautiful cars from around the area. Different awards will also be handed out including Best in Show, Best Paint, Best Motor, Best in Class, and many more! This event also benefits the North Brunswick Chamber of Commerce as well as Education/Scholarship funds.  

Have a sweet ride of your own? Register your car at the North Brunswick Chamber website and fill out their form. This car show will also be a great opportunity to chat with other classic car enthusiasts and make new lifelong friends!  

Wilmington Water Tours – Black Water Adventure Cruise

Finally, start your day out on the Black River in search of wildlife to capture and admire!  This unique and rewarding experience is perfect for photographers, birders, and nature lovers. See the beauty of untouched nature with all different kinds of wildlife strumming about on the majestic riverbank.  

The Black River is a popular location for recreational water activities like kayaking. It is also home to the eastern bald cypress, one of the oldest tree species in the world. Some trees date well over a thousand years! We strongly encourage you to take a water tour or venture out on a kayak to admire this incredible part of our area!  

Fun in the Forest
