This basin area is one of the three original National Estuarine Research Reserve dedicated by the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration and the Division of Coastal Management in 1985. The lagoon complex is one of the most unusual areas of the North Carolina coast. The largest of the three islands in this lagoon is Zeke’s Island and is located along the rock wall that borders the Cape Fear River. This area has extensive marshes and tidal flats area that are excellent viewing places for different sea birds and other migratory birds. Plus\, you get the experience of viewing a spectacular sunset from this beautiful location!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMeeting Point: Boat Ramp at Federal Point Wildlife \n(located just below the Forest Fisher Ferry on Fort Fisher Blvd.) \n  \nTime: 8:30 AM (40-minute drive) \n  \nWe will text Google Map driving directions to you the evening before your adventure. \n  \nPrice \nNeed a Kayak: $52.00 \nAlready own a Kayak: $42.00 \n  \nBring plenty of water and some sunscreen. Explorers will have an opportunity to get out of the kayaks and explore the southern end of Fort Fisher Beach. This stop is at one of the secluded beach access points\, along the southern end of the Fort Fisher State Park.
